Previous committee meeting details...

Carla Harris was the host of the meeting that was held on February 10th, 2001.  After most everyone (except for the always punctual Kim) arrived late, we got to work on finding the addresses of "missing" classmates.  To this end, we got on our regular, and cell, phones, plus the Internet, and went to work.  During all of this, we got a chance to have some good eats, and even get a couple of pictures of the committee in action (soon to be posted on this web site).

As far as our results; we did find well over a dozen (out of over 100) of the classmates we were looking for, so that was a good accomplishment.  We also have ideas on how to track down most of the rest, with a minimum of work, and further meetings, so, let's hope we can get the news of the upcoming reunion out to everyone !

The January 16th, 2001 committee meeting was held at Daisy Sims' home.  We all enjoyed some food and snacks there, and were glad to have first-time attendee Jennifer (Milton) McReynolds.

After a short time of chit-chat, we had the "fun" of envelope-stuffing, as far as getting the mailer for the reunion ready to go.  Unfortunately, it became clear that a LOT of names / addresses were unconfirmed, so our work wasn't as fruitful as we had hoped.  Still, we got some basic groundwork done, and almost half of the classmates were ready to be mailed by the end of our session.

The October 12th, 2000 committee get-together was held at Wildwood Country Club.  The committee looked around the facility, and talked to someone in charge about the details of what was available, etc...  The room we were showed was very nice, and spacious, and the tables and other room furniture had a great look to it.

After our brief tour of Wildwood, we met at the restaurant Uno, in the heart of Fern Creek, and discussed some finalities to the reunion.  These included voting on the food choices to be served, and some decision-making on the admission we would need to charge, so that Carla could finalize the mailer we'll be getting ready to send next time.

The committee meeting held August 24th, 2000 was at Daisy Sims' home.  After everyone had arrived, and snacked on some great "picnic" food Daisy had generously prepared, the committee proceeded to the meeting.  Like our last meeting, committee members who hadn't turned in their completed class address sheets conferred with Kim while discussions were going on.  Kris reminded everyone to have their sheets totally complete for our next meeting, so that we'll be able to do the mailing on a timely basis.

One of the main discussions was regarding the price to charge for the reunion, in order to be able to break even.  Though it's not set in stone, we pretty much have decided on $35 a person, pre-paid.  Another discussion was regarding the (excellent) proposed mailer that Carla had made up for the committee to see.  All of our ideas, and needed information, was included, and the discussion was for the proposal of any small changes, or "clean-up", the mailer needed.  When Carla has a more finalized copy (based on suggestions made), I'll post it to this site, for anyone to make last-minute proposals or corrections.

The location of the July 15th, 2000 meeting was at Kim Young's home.  After a great lunchtime meal from the grill (courtesy of her husband Scott), the committee leapt into action, while the spouses and kids were experiencing "home theater" in the basement.  While everyone discussed ideas about fund-raising for the reunion, committee members who hadn't turned in their completed class address sheets conferred with Kim.  She diligently entered updates into her database, and handed out pre-printed address sheets to everyone for one last round of confirmations.

One of the ideas for fund-raising was the selling of ad space in the address book we plan on having available at the reunion next year (like the one given out at the 10 year reunion).  Prices in the $10 to $20 range were suggested for a business card sized ad.  The committee seemed to lean towards the lower end of the price range.  Also, Kris reminded everyone about raffle ticket sales (with cash prizes), which has been very successful at past reunions.  Finally, I suggested the idea of selling the address book this time, since it's such a popular, and useful item.  As an "incentive", a raffle ticket could be included in the (suggested) $2 price.  Members agreed that this sounded like an excellent fund-raising idea.

The June 3rd, 2000 meeting took place at Carla Harris' home.  In-between a great dinner from the spatula of grill-master Kevin, and a riveting Pictionary contest pitting the guys against the gals (which the guys won, BTW !!!), we actually accomplished a few things.  Committee members in attendance who received a class address sheet at the previous meeting, turned in their updates to Kim Young.  Also, some update information was provided at the meeting by members who "filled in the blanks" for other committee members' sheets.

The April 13th, 2000 meeting was held at Heather Onkst's home.  The group of eight members came up with a number of ideas and we tentatively proposed the following for the 20 year reunion:  location: Wildwood Country Club; date: Saturday, August 4th; cost: $35 per person; food: probably a buffet; in addition: a get-together the next day at Charlie Vettner Park, around 1 PM; chicken would be supplied, and everyone should bring a dish.  Remember that all of this is still in the idea stages, and is far from final.

At the end of the meeting, sheets containing the address information of classmates were distributed to each committee member.  Kim Young will be updating the 15 year reunion database with any corrections or additions that committee members find.

Now, back to the present.  Needless to say, any class member is welcome to join in on our committee meetings.  Feel free to invite anyone from the class that you may talk with to come to our meetings, or give input (they can mail Carla Harris at: ). We want this to be everyone's reunion !!!
